The brand was founded in 1967. in Germany and is the main asset of the  shoe holding Wortmann KG International Shuproductionen (Detmold). Two years later, in 1969, the first "Tamaris" store was opened, offering women shoes made of genuine leather.  and aesthetic, corresponded to the spirit of the times and requests that the brand immediately received universal recognition. 

The high level of consumer confidence in the company's shoes allowed it to become the leader of the European market and sell more than 51 million pairs a year
